Remembering John Blewett III

Nineteen years ago today, Modified racing lost John Blewett III.

For the North-South Shootout, John’s legacy is especially meaningful. He won the event twice, in 2003 and 2005, and was part of the Shootout from its earliest days. Following his passing in 2007, the race was renamed the John Blewett III Memorial North-South Shootout in his honor.

But a legacy isn’t measured only in victories, trophies or a name attached to a race. It lives on through the people who remember, the stories that continue to be told and the impact someone leaves on a sport and its community.

Today, we remember John—his talent, his passion for Modified racing and a legacy that remains an important part of the North-South Shootout.
